After dodging maniacal truck drivers on the highway, I finally got into Huancayo, where I met Michel Sakamoto, a sansei. Sansei is a third generation japanese descendant. Part of my journey was to live with, learn about, and document the asian diaspora (asian descendants) of the asian immigrants in Latin America. Few people in the USA know that Latin America has a huge number of asian latinos, due to the American’s need to live according to stereotypes. Part of my mission was to destroy those stereotypes.
Michel assisted me in getting to the center, where I met up with a high school buddy, Anthony Khan, who was volunteering in Huancayo.
